Laphroaig 15 Year Old 200th Anniversary Edition is a limited release marking 200 years of Laphroaig distillery. Nose: The peat is subtle & the nose is fairly sweet. Some soft vanilla & mild sugar, along with ripe banana, & green apple. Palate: Smoky & peaty, with a fair amount of pepper & some tannins. A bit medicinal. Theres not a lot left of the sweetness that was so prominent in the nose. Finish: peat & nutty aromas with a hint of chocolate at the end. Long, but not overpowering. ...

To celebrate Queen Elizabeths 60th year on the throne, Laphroaig launched a special Diamond Jubilee commemorative edition. Bearing Prince Charles Royal Warrant, the 3000 Jubilee cartons & bottles are already collectors items. Age: 18 years old 48% ABV / 70cl Bottle Number: One of only 3, 000 bottles released. Nose: At bottling strength, a soft toffee sweet but faintly spicy flavour counterbalances the trace of delicate phenols & fruit. An all encompassing smoothness brings these together. A touch of water allows the seaweed & salt to come through but not enough to overpower the vanilla & honey sweetness with just a trace of new mown hay & peat at the finish. Palate: An instant warming tang of smoke fades into smooth floral scents, which blends seamlessly into an oaky nuttiness & leaves a lasting sweetness on the taste. With a touch of water, the peaty warmth fills the mouth but does not overshadow the sweet chocolate smoothness. This is balanced by the rich toffee taste & slowly fades into a delicate hint of heather & peat smoke. Finish: Full bodied, long with a luxurious oily smoothness. ...

In our opinion, one of the best peated whiskies money can buy! This Laphroaig 18 is worth every penny & is leagues ahead of the basic 10 Year Old in terms of complexity & intrigue. One for peat lovers!! Nose: Spicy & peaty Palate: First taste is an oak sweetness gained from 18 years maturing in an ex-bourbon barrel. Then the smoke fades into flavours of nutty oak, toffee & wild heather
